On October 19, thieves broke into the Apollo Gallery at the Louvre, using a crane truck to enter through a window. The robbery lasted only 7 minutes and it was during the day. They broke into two display cases and took nine items, including a set of diamond and sapphire jewelry that belonged to Queen Marie-Amélie and Queen Hortense.
It is estimated that the jewels stolen from the museum are worth 88 million euros.
More than 100 investigators are participating in the search, analyzing DNA and objects left at the scene. One suspect was arrested at the Charles de Gaulle Airport trying to escape to Algeria, but the jewels have not been found during the arrests.
