A Haunting in Venice by Kenneth Branagh - Disney/20th Century Studios

Have you ever been silly to believe in films based on books? Unfortunately last wednesday (9/20) I was. Me and some friends went to the cinema to watch the new adaptation of an Agatha Christie story called Hallowe’en Party.

The plot is always putting Poirot’s beliefs in exams. After some months of retirement, an old friend puts the best detective back on track. The movie had a bunch of jump scares, which I confess isn’t my cup of tea. Besides that, I was very excited seeing the classic scene of Poirot assembling the characters to conclude the case.

One aspect this film takes 1000/10 was the performers. The role of Hercule Poirot, in my honest opinion, needs to be forever played by Kenneth Charles branagh. He just acts a perfect charming and methodical person. Another actor who calls everyone’s attention was the wife Lude HIll, that gives life to Leopold, or just Leo to the intimate. Even though he was still just a child, he not only presented a brilliant performance but also perfect skill to make horror films.

I will not be insincere saying it isn’t worth to watch it, because I quite enjoy the storyline. However, I thoroughly recommend to you see this film as any other, not focusing on Christie’s grandioses stories.
