Charlie Kirk was a U.S. political activist, author, media personality and co-founder of Turning Point USA. He was a prominent voice in the conservative/MAGA movement, on college campuses and in youth political engagement.
The right-wing campaigner was killed on September 10, 2025, during a college event in Utah. He was only 31 years old. He was speaking at Utah Valley University as part of his “American Comeback Tour” when a gunman fired. Kirk was shot in the neck and later died at the hospital.
Authorities quickly arrested Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old man from Utah, who was charged with aggravated murder and related offenses. Prosecutors announced their intention to seek the death penalty against Robinson. Investigators revealed that he left a note detailing his intent, exchanged text messages confessing to the act and was linked to the weapon through DNA evidence.
The killing shocked the nation. People from across the political spectrum condemned the violence. Many see the case as another sign of how dangerous political polarization has become in the US.
