The question about the existence of God has always been present in people’s lives. Everyone has this debate about this question: “Does God really exist?” This doesn’t touch us a lot, because it is about big things, like faith, the meaning of life and being afraid of what happens after we die.

Maybe the most important part of this discussion is not the answer itself, but the fact that we have the freedom to choose what to believe. This is what we call “free will”. Having free will means that each person can decide what to do with their own life. For example: believing in God or not is a choice. No one can force another person to believe, and no one can stop a person from believing in your God.

This point gets even clearer when we look at the way people live. Some people don’t care much about religion and just act according to what they think is right, without worrying if they will be judged by a divine being. These people prefer to create their own values instead of following rules just because everyone follows. This can show how free will can be even more important than a religion.

On the other hand, many people find in a religion a guide and a meaning to continue. And there is nothing wrong with that. Faith can bring comfort, hope and strength to face hard times. But people who have faith still need to decide if they are really going to follow what religion teaches or not. In the end, believing isn’t the most important. To choose how we act, this will always depend on each person.

The most important point is, believing or not in God, we are the ones who choose what we do with our life. This can be scary, because it means taking responsibility for everything we do. We cannot always blame luck, destiny, or a divine will. We have to deal with the consequences of our choices, whether they are good or bad.

This other side can be liberated. If there is no ready script for life, it means we can write our story. We don’t need to live only to please others or to follow rules that make no sense. We have the possibility to decide, to start again, check on tests, end your relationship. Of course, each decision brings a result, but this is exactly what makes life ours, and not someone else’s.

In the end, believing in God can change the way you live your life, but it doesn’t change the most important thing: it is you who makes your decision. Free will is what really gives meaning to life because it gives us freedom and, at the same time, responsibility. What defines us is not if you follow God and He exists or not, but what we do with free will.
