If you are thinking that recently the days are getting shorter, it might be because the planet decided to go faster. Since 2020, the Earth has been rotating on its axis a little faster than normal.

Astronomers are still trying to find the reason behind it, but some of them think that the Earth rotates faster when the moon is farther away.

Until 2020, the biggest record was -1.05 millisecond in one day. But the numbers started to grow, and on June 30, 2022, it happened to be the smallest day of all time! With -1.59 milliseconds.

This year, we had three predictions of shorter days, but just one happened.
