In a Wednesday like all the others at a detective office, Diego and his assistant João had just received a call about a man pressing charge on his wife’s suicide.

As soon as they could, they went to the address given to investigate the case. No sooner had Diego arrived there than he saw the dead body in the kitchen. Analyzing the crime scene, he could see around the body a can of soup dropped on the floor, a chair fallen on the ground and a long rope.

After that, he started asking some questions to the victim’s husband, Pedro, to understand if his wife, Sabrina, had left any clue of what she was intending to do. According to Pedro, it was out of the blue and he would not have guessed it. He also told them that their relationship was in his best moment, and that‘s why he was so surprised.

When João suggested checking the bedroom, Pedro got suddenly nervous, and against his protests the detectives decided to check it. There they found many papers held by a clip. Among them there was a document where Sabrina was asking for the divorce, contradicting Pedro’s alibi. At first, they stood in silence looking for more information, then Diego saw a yellow envelope opened on the desk. Inside the envelope, there was a letter from Sabrina to her mother saying that she saw a lipstick with Pedro, which belonged to another woman, discovering that he was cheating on her.

That was enough for the detectives to realize that it was not a suicide, but a murder. Diego realized that the divorce was the reason for Pedro killing his wife while she was having dinner, using the rope. After all, the detectives arrested Pedro accusing him of murdering Sabrina.
