“Central”, one of the finest restaurants in Lima, Peru - Feastio
By: Felipe Senra Barros (Grade 3)
Restaurants are all over the world, we all know that. Quality restaurants too. But where can we find the best of them? Pretty much anywhere as well, but you have to be attentive while seeking them. My name is Felipe, I’ll be your narrator throughout this reading, welcome! In a few words, we’ll be traveling all around the globe! Are you ready?
Our first stop is in Latin America. A vibrant continent with lots of history and cuisine. I’m gonna talk about two brilliant places, although there are much more. First off, we have “Central” in Lima, the capital of Peru. It was considered the finest eatery in the whole world. According to the site 50Best: “In 2008, Vírgilio Martínez opened Central […] with a vision to create a fine dining experience rooted in Peruvian ingredients and cooking techniques […]”. Here in Brazil, you can dine with your friends at “A Casa do Porco”, in São Paulo. The 12th greatest restaurant on the planet is full of creative and fun meals.
Meanwhile in North America, I’m gonna be able to talk to you guys about “Atomix”, in the huge city of New York, a culinary pole. This 14-seat counter boated in Manhattan, run by the chef Junghyun Park, surprises you with a 12-course of Korean-based food. Fun fact: “Ato” in Korean means “gift”, so “Atomix” is a mix of gifts!
We’re now in Asia, where “Le Du” is the star of the show. Located in Bangladesh, it’s a Thai place, but more than that, the chef Thitid Tassanakajohn only uses resources prominent from Thailand. The 15th best eating house is at the same time traditional and contemporary, by making millennial dishes modern. Here’s a taste of what you can order there: the “Khao Kluk Kapi”, which consists of a butterflied river prawn from a southern river in Thailand, grilled and served with a risotto made from two types of northern Thai rice mixed with shrimp paste and seasonings! Mindblown.!
Now, let’s talk about Africa. The marvelous land, full of so many cultures and people. If someday you find yourself in the lousy streets of Cairo, treat yourself in “Kazoku”! Predominantly a Japanese heritage eating place, there are also a plethora of contemporary dishes. “La Grande Table Marocaine” has turned Moroccan food upside down. Located in Marrakech, the plates are known for “conjuring all the magic of Arabian nights”.
Why is Barcelona so famous in terms of food globally? That’s why we’re in the 2nd biggest city in Spain: to check out its best diner. “Disfrutar” is the 2nd most tasty restaurant in the world. The chefs Oriol Castro, Eduardo Xatruch and Mateu Casañas gave “Disfrutar” a clear identity – food that surprises and delights in equal measure.
Oof! After so many countries visited and restaurants checked out, each one of us is back to where we were before. My pleasure is immense, thank you for accompanying me! See you guys around!
