Rio Festival is a cinema event that happens every year in Rio de Janeiro. It was created in 1999. It brings groups of movies from all genres, mixing culture, Brazilian and international cinema in one city.

This year, the event took place from October 2nd to October 12th, completing its 27th edition with a record number of movies. It will happen at the same time as Rio Market, an event that discusses the business area of Rio Festival, talking about the audiovisual industry. The festival’s program features 900 screenings, with 186 films from 74 countries. Sixteen of the films that were exhibited are Oscar nominees from their home countries.

On this year’s programme, there were more than 300 films being shown. Some of them are: “#SalveRosa”, “(Des) controle”, “O Agente Secreto”, “La Grazia”, “Ballad of a Small Player” and many other titles that you can expect to watch at the Rio Festival of 2025.
