What the royalty wears influences fashions all around the globe, impacting on the brands and tendencies of the season. However, behind every outfit is a renowned team that planned perfectly which pieces are going to be worn.
Royal trends are dictated by tradition. Take a look at a few rules that moves what the monarchy is dressing:
1. The color choice
What the Queen wears is exclusive. The other family members cannot share the same color palette as her.
Secondly, Queen Elizabeth used to always dress up in vibrant colors. Like this, she would call attention and be seen, both by regular citizens and their securities.
In addition, traveling to another country requires organization. When meeting with official leaders, clothes should be either in solid colors or in options that symbolize the country. Besides, it is common for royals to wear clothes made by local designers. In these cases, fashion represents respect and diplomacy.
2. Accessories
Tiaras can only be worn by married women, and in the past, hats were required in any event before 6pm. Nowadays, usually this only applies to more formal ones, such as the Royal Ascot. The horse race follows a 300-year-old tradition, with a strict dress code for the British Monarchy, that includes larger hats and exclusive costumes.
Also, even the nails don’t escape from the norms. Women should paint their nails only in clear tonalities. Although it is not a formal rule, it has always been like this. Kate Middleton, married to Prince William, had her nails painted red at the Royal Family’s Easter Mass. The breach of protocol generated comments across the country. It was also the first event without the former Queen.
