The holiday season is here and all we think about are the presents, but do we know the real meaning of Christmas? Well, I‘m here to explain all about it.
The 25th of December, the holy day chosen to represent Christ’s birth, became a holiday to christians to celebrate. On this day, we honor Jesus and all the people who followed and follows him until nowadays. It is not like Thanksgiving, but for sure is a period of the year for you to be grateful for all the sacrifice our Lord has done to His people.
Now, talking about the celebration itself, most of the people spend the night with their families and eat a delicious feast. That happens because one of the most valuable purposes of Christmas is the unionship and caring for the ones you love. Another “tradition” that has happily become more and more common is the food, toys and clothes giveaways on the days before, or on the night of this special day. Anyways, at least that’s how most of my friends and I spend this day.
Now… I have a question for you… do you know why we decorate our houses and places around the city with trees? No? It’s okay, you need to use more of your emotional intelligence to catch this meaning. The Christmas tree is one of the symbols of the holidays because it represents immortality. It makes reference to our Lord in the cross with a crown of thorns in his head. It shows that despite everything, God will always be among us, not necessarily in body, but sometimes, in soul.
Did you get everything? Will you look to this period of time differently now? I really hope so! Happy Holidays!
