Do you like puppies? If your answer is yes, this article is for you. If I said that the new Superman movie can help many dogs find a home, would you believe me? Because it’s all true.
According to Woofs, a dog training app, the searches by Google users for “adopt a dog near me” increased by 513% after James Gunn’s Superman was released in US theaters during the weekend of 11 July.
More than 450 pets were adopted across the US during the first ten days of July, when Warner Bros, the studio which released Superman, collaborated with Best Friends Animal Society to cover animal adoption fees.
The Woof’s chief executive officer, Natalia Shahmetorea, said for the ones that are looking for their own Krypto, Superman’s dog, that “adoption is a real commitment”. “The hype will fade, but your dog will stay, so make sure you’re ready to give them the time, care and training they need and deserve.”
The director of Superman, James Gunn, said publicly that Krypto was based on his own dog, Ozu, which Gunn called “the world’s worst dog”, because of his behavior. “He was biting my feet until they bled, ate my new $10,000 laptop, chewed up all my shoes and our furniture and I was like ‘Thank God he doesn’t have superpowers”.
To conclude Ozu may not be the most obedient dog in the world, but it and Krypto can help many puppies find a lonely place to call home.
