On 24 of April, the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came to make us feel. The game has a dramatic and strong way to tell the story and a gameplay around turn-based combat. You might think why I’m here talking about this game, and the answer is simple, because it is special, it is built differently.

The team who made the game were composed of 33 people and 2 dogs called Freyja and Monoco (he’s also a character in the game), and the fun fact is that these are the names of former employees of Ubisoft. The director of the game found other talents on Reddit, like the musician of the game Lorien Testard, and if I would say what the peak of the game was I would say that is the soundtrack. Songs like “Alicia”, “Lumière” and “ Une vie à Pendre” make you feel the energy and connect to the story.

The beginning of Expedition 33 is about presenting you the world. They have an event called “Gomagge” that makes people who turn into a certain age become rose petals. The age that they can hit decreases in one number each year, they can see the number on the big monolith over the sea, and the responsible for this is the Paintress, a creature who paints the monolith every year.

They send yearly expeditions to the monolith to study more and understand why the Gomagge happens, as well as to find a way to stop it. In this game, you will be at Expedition 33 playing as Gustave, a man with 32 years.

If you were caught up with what I just told you I just have one thing to tell you, go play. You will find the game in Xbox Game Pass, and you are not going to regret it.
