The Game Awards (TGA) is a ceremony that happens every year, where there are a lot of categories, and the TGA recognizes and chooses the game that wins each category.

The first edition of TGA happened in 2014 and, since then, it’s considered the Oscars of video games. Like I said before, there are a lot of categories, best soundtrack, best graphics and best mobile games are examples. But there is a special category, called “Game of the Year”, that represents the best game produced in the year of the ceremony. The winner is decided by voting, where 90% of the voters are from a jury and 10% are the public opinion.

There is a single problem with The Game Awards. Sometimes, the winner of the main category is not the best game of the year for most people. This happened last year, in 2024. AstroBot, which got the prize, was a game made by Playstation, but the decision of the jury was not approved by the majority of people, and they started to accuse TGA of being unfair.

Despite this issue, The Game Awards is an amazing event that is watched all over the world, and as years go by, it gets bigger and bigger, and more people start to pay attention to the video game universe.
