The electronic music producer and DJ Diplo, who has recently made the opening presentation of Madonna’s concert in Copacabana last year, had been accused of sharing sexually explicit images and videos of a woman without her consent.
The DJ is considered a suspect in a case of “revenge pornography”, which is a crime and form of sexual, digital, and psychological abuse, and has been investigated in the US.
The victim, who anonymously pressed charges, said they had a 7-year relationship and that, during that period, he recorded videos of them having sex and later exposed those images against her will.
In 2023, the woman received a message of someone who had their images. Speculating a little more, they discovered that Diplo sent the material through Snapchat in 2018, but Diplo’s lawyer affirmed that he has already been accused under “false allegations” once.
Shelly Auguste was one of his victims in 2020 and Jane Doe, back in 2016, when she was 21 and Diplo 37. Shelly Auguste (the one mentioned above), accused Diplo of sexual assault and for posting an explicit image of her through an anonymous account on Twitter.
DJ Diplo said that Auguste was an obsessed fan, however, he confirmed that they had sex in April 2019, and again in Las Vegas, in July 2019. So finally, both of them decided to make an agreement.
At the moment, we don’t know exactly what really happened. So, what are your thoughts about the case? Is Diplo really guilty?
