Every cult person should know who is Jose Mujica, the ex-president of Uruguay, who unfortunately passed away at the age of 89. However, do you know his story of political persecution due marijuana? If not, come with me and I’ll tell you.
Our dear Pepe was born on the 20th of May of 1935, lived in Montevídeo all his life and, in the start of his early adulthood, became a guerrilla fighter for the Tupamaro movement, which was focused on trying to take down the Uruguay dictatorship. However, he was arrested and spent 15 years in jail, 11 of them in solitary confinement with no sunlight, books and water, having to drink his own urine to survive.
But things got better after his release fro,m jail even ending up being president form 2010 to 2015, and he did some interesting things as president such as legalizing marijuana, abortion and gay marriage. Also, he is called the poorest president on earth because, instead of living in the presidential palace, he chose a small cottage.
