A book written by a Russian philosophical writer may seem like an awkward type of love story. That’s what you may think when you start to read “White Nights”, by Fiodor Dostoievski, published in the 19th century.

The plot is around a man, whose name isn’t mentioned, but is described by himself as a dreamer. He falls in love with a lady during St. Petersburg’s white nights, and their romance flourishes.

The weight and profoundness of this story is surprisingly thought-provoking. The course of the narrative makes the book an unputdownable piece, which can touch the reader deeply. To sum up, I strongly recommend White Nights as it’s a masterpiece with a relatable, and deeply touching plot that’s become one of my favorite books. If you are a reader who is tired of the obvious course of most love stories this is the book for you.
