Have you ever thought about reading the same book as your kids? If not, we strongly recommend this amazing experience. It’s a true opportunity to discuss the story, compare the plot with our personal lives and spend some precious time with our children.

“26 Fairmount Avenue”, written by Tomie de Paola, is a book for kids. However, when you start reading it, you realize that it’s much more than that! The picture book, the first of a collection about Mr. de Paola’s childhood, is a true story about family relationships that teaches children how to deal with frustration, how to cooperate and behave during hard moments, and above all, it teaches us about respect.

Seems like an interesting book, doesn’t it? Besides, young Tommy’s family had a strong bond where the religious celebrations were connected with important milestones. We saw that religion had played a relevant role in that familiar context.

Set in the 1930s, we observe that some family habits haven’t changed, such as the portrayal of the mother figure, active and imperative in the child’s education. On the other hand, it was and still is, in some homes, the man’s job to “bring home the bacon”.

Reading gives us the ultimate chance of being closer to our kids. We learn about how to be more supportive concerning people. We share ideas and pleasant moments. Moreover, we have a good chance of developing our English skills. Isn’t it nice? Wouldn’t you like to live this experience?
